This Is a slightly remastered version i made myself. The movie has more color in it, and the sound has been upgraded a bit. Please note that this movie was uploaded in a video size of 320x240, so it wont look as good as it should if you watch it with the player that's here on the archive. Their player wont re- size to the 320x240 frame size. To see it in its full quality, download the cinepak version, which is the original AVI file i uploaded. That version looks really good to me. Some people may feel its got too much extra color, but you can always lower your color slide bar if you feel its too colorful.

Subject: David Jansen, Dan Curtis Dark Shadows special
In the 70's Dan Curtis the producer of Dark Shadows also produced a series of horror/mystery themed prime time specials. Some where standard TV movies like this one. Some where classic tales shot on video tape and looking like they filmed a live play. Some used the theme music from Dark Shadows as well and the earlier ones were sometimes promoted using the Dark Shadows name. Like "Dark Shadows Presents: Frankenstein". Even though there is really no connection. Get it? I think this one is better than most give it credit for. David Jansen was a big name at the time and very, very popular.

Subject: A little too much colour
Admittedly some of the dialogue, and acting would never win awards.

Nor would the make up and (not so) "special" effects.

Yes the pace sometimes slows down, but that's how movies were made back then (when people had an attention span of more than 5 seconds).

When you consider when it was made (1972) and the fact it was a low budget "movie of the week" made for t.v, it's pretty good.

However i found this version had too much colour for me.Even when turning it down, the movie still seemed blurred, and that distracted from the viewing experiance.

Subject: A Classic Made For TV Movie
I love this movie. I remember watching it back in 1972 on the ABC movie of the week. Its more of a mystery movie and less a horror movie, but it has first rate actors and the story line flows nicely. Enjoy!
